Martin Heckmann studied Electrical Engineering at University of Karlsruhe, Germany and Institut National des Sciences Appliquées (INSA) de Lyon, France. He received his Diploma and PhD degrees from University of Karlsruhe in 1997 and 2003, respectively. During his PhD he focused on audio-visual speech recognition. In 2000 and 2001 he was a visiting researcher at gipsa-lab Grenoble, France. Since 2004 he is a senior scientist at Honda Research Institute Europe GmbH at Offenbach, Germany.
His research interests include speech perception, biologically inspired robust speech recognition, speech acquisition, and computational auditory scene analysis.
